We both have wonderful memories of working with Pam at St Joseph’s in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Pam was a very creative music teacher. She was dedicated to student learning and performance. She was also a very supportive colleague, particularly with those who were experiencing severe illness. Of course, support always included much laughter.

We also have very fond memories of our family trip up the Darling River with Pam and Sam, in the ‘SamPam’. On the banks of the River, Pam cooked damper for us all. On the return journey we called at ‘Netherby’ to see Rosemary and Rob Lockhead. Here we lingered some time and returned down the River, in the dark, by the feeble light of two small torches. We had put the ‘SamPam’ into the Murray River at the Hospital Ramp and could not find this in the dark. Ray was put ashore with one of the torches to find the boat ramp and turn on the car headlights. Fortunately, he was successful.

We send out condolences to Lesley, Martin and extended family members.

To Martin and family. My deepest condolences on the passing of Pam. Pam was the person who instilled in me a lifelong love of sport—and hockey in particular. At a time when women’s teams were often coached by men whose methods left much to be desired, Pam stepped in and showed us a better way. With care, compassion, and just the right amount of toughness, she proved that success could come through respect and genuine passion for the game. She inspired so many of us to not only play, but to coach and lead with those same values. We are all better for having had her in our hockey lives. Pam was a truly great lady, and she will be remembered with admiration and gratitude by all her hockey proteges.
