We have fond memories of Steve and family during the years we lived in Mildura. It certainly was a privilege to have know this great man through swimming carnivals, tennis at the lake, bike riding, wine and food and just having fun. So sorry we cannot be with the family today as we are organising a wine and food event. We will raise our glasses to you Steve. Xxx X

Brian and I send our sincere condolences to Kate and family. I’m so sorry I won’t be there to farewell Stephen, my amazing, compassionate and very funny boss of 20 years. Your dedication to people’s eye care and to the care of your staff was amazing. It was a privilege to be part of his life. RIP

Just finished our ride today. Dedicated it to my memories of Steve Jones from Mildura who passed away this week. Steve was an excellent optometrist and very one eyed about making sure your prescriptions were spot on. We cycled together a lot in the 90s and I can testify that Steve was a massive snorer after a few post ride beers. He was a champion decathlon athlete in his youth and trained for Olympic consideration – he was that good.

Very competitive and we enjoyed some healthy discussions at Lake Cullulleraine Tennis Club as Steve played with the Merbein tennis players against the rest of the Millewa. Many a lovely beer after tennis with all players out there.

My deepest sympathies to the Jones family and sad that I wil miss his funeral next Wednesday.

    Vale Stephen Jones.
