Kevin Kelly
Dad. You were tough and scary when we were kids. But as I look back I see all the good things you gave us and me as well. The independence and freedom we had as kids to just go out and explore would now be considered remarkable. Whether it by foot , bicycle or motorcycle we could just go. Steering the tractor before was strong enough to push the clutch in at picking time so you could work the cart, yabbying, my own .22, driving the old Datsun with no brakes. Kate and I walked from Pomona to the Anabranch for a swim! The Perry Sandhills, rowing, tennis, football, cricket. Out at the sandpits together when you had the truck. The first time I stood up to you so I could play golf with my mates. Ambulance. 4 wheel driving and exploring together around the outback and around Braidwood. Remember the forest trip in the snow with mum?
All your kids are strong, independent and safe. It’s because of yours and mum’s values and parenting.
I’m going to hang on to the good memories. I’ll grab a box of matches and set fire to the bad ones.
