  • Mary Roberts (nee Pedder)

Dearly loved and cherished sister of Mary – not only played a major part in bringing up her younger siblings but was also very instrumental in our lives as we grew – we followed her lead because it was a very good lead to follow.

To Barb, the family was everything, not only her immediate clan, but the few Pedder’s that remained – she rejoiced in our good times and was always there to help us when times were not so good – a ‘true’ big sister that truly cared for all her loved ones. A dynamic spirit who yes, grabbed life by the throat from a very young age and nothing was beyond her.

Barbara Patricia Kennedy (nee Pedder) was never blasé about life – she only had a few change of addresses but every one of them had the ‘Barb and Kenny Stamp’ – you went into Barb’s home and you felt at home – whether she was dishing up one of her famous roasts or showing you a new plant in her beautiful gardens. Barb was also never blasé about her travels – wherever the heck she was, in some remote town in the middle of Australia or on her overseas trips – she was constantly in awe by what she saw and the people that she met along the way – many of whom remained lifelong friends – and who wouldn’t? Barb made everyone feel special.

Barb had a few battles herself in recent times but nothing would ever douse her indomitable spirit – throughout these battles over the past few years, and more recently, when even talking became a problem for her – texting took over and I was so blessed to receive one a couple of days ago and the opportunity to say goodbye to my wonderful sister.

Being somewhat Buddhist in my beliefs – I know that Barb’s soul is now soaring catching up with family that have gone before her – that she will always be with each of us and that her spirit lives on in all of us.
