I am deeply saddened by Tristram’s passing. The grief of losing someone who was once such a significant part of my life is so difficult to put into words. Though the time we shared together had its complications, we still shared in moments of love, laughter, connection, and vulnerability that I will always look back on fondly.
I had always hoped Tristram would find peace and healing from the inner battles he faced and that he fought so fiercely to hide from the world around him. That hope never left me, even after we went our separate ways. I hope he is finally at peace now and is free of the everthing that weighed him down so heavily in life.
Making the decision to walk away from our relationship was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, a decision I never made because I stopped caring for Tristram, but because I needed to choose myself, and put my well-being first.
I regret that our story couldn’t have unfolded differently and that there will never be a day down the road when we get to cross paths again. A day when we’re a little older, a little wiser, and have a lot more understanding for each other.
My heart is with Tristrams children today, his mum, his immediate and extended family, his work colleagues, mentees, friends, and everyone grieving this tragic loss.
