My husband and I traveled to Australia to teach back in 1975. I’m not exactly sure how we met Ron but we met Ron very early after we ended up in Mildura. We became fast friends and so enjoyed his company. I taught at Merbein Elementary and my husband taught at Mildura High School. Ron took us to many of the Greek dances, which we really enjoyed. Many of my little students were delighted that their teacher would take part in something that was so important to them. That was due to sweet Ron.
When the high school went on their camping trips my husband would ask Ron to look out for me. We had fun during that time taking care and grooming his show chickens. He would just laugh because I wasn’t afraid of them at all which he expected me to be.
We enjoyed times with his mother and with Leslie. They were such a sweet family.
Ron came to visit us in West Virginia and Virginia. We were delighted with his visits, phone calls, and correspondence. I had always wanted to Australia mainly to visit Ron. This is something I will always regret.
The world was better because of Ron’s life. I’m certain God was pleased with the wonderful man that He created. I imagine those reading this would agree.
My prayers are now with those who are grieving this huge lose. I looked forward to seeing my dear friend, Ron, on the other side.

Wir kannten uns zwar nicht wirklich gut und haben uns nur 2019 gesehen, aber als Freund meines Sohnes David habe ich Dich auch sehr geschätzt. Ruhe in Frieden

Ron , throughout the years you have been a dear friend. Who would’ve thought when my parents , Grace and Michael, moved next door to the Oxley family in 1960 , our friendship would grow all these years. I’ve known you all my life ( I think you drove Mum to hospital, then I turned up!! ) So many memories , stories and laughter. R.I.P our friend.
