Goodbye my dear friend …. you lived a great life Mary with your friends, family, gardens and fur babies. Missing you already, rest easy in a bigger garden now.

Vale dearest Mary Chandler our lead Nowingi toxic waste dump warrior, passenger train warrior for many years, author, historian, Mallee national parks warrior, daughter of Les Chandler who was instrumental in setting up national parks, and was an avid bird watcher, fantastic photographer, historian, poet, and author as was his daughter Mary, who was also a keen gardener, dog lover (Minette and Charlie), yummy lamington maker, supporter of Cardross Hall, the Red Cliffs train, Red cliffs, supporter of Peter Crisp and so many others.
Our Mary passed away suddenly and leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of conservation, hope and inspiration for all of us who knew her and a role model for the next generation.
Vale dearest Mary we are in shock and Marg Dominelli and I will miss our special trips to Nowingi twice a year to celebrate our huge win against all odds by raising out glass of champagne and having a picnic near a tree that one time had a pair of endangered Major Mitchells keeping us company. That and lots of kangaroos, goats, feral pigs, one active Malleefowl nest where they were going to clear, greater long eared bats and hollows, mallee emu wren and an endangered moth! Mary was instrumental in our win. Thank you Mary.

I spoke with Mary on the phone a few weeks ago. Amongst other things, we talked about her garden. I remember Mary’s garden overflowing with flowers. In Spring it was like an old Impressionist painting – a vast canvas of blooms, as vibrant and lively as its owner.
Mary, you will be missed and very fondly remembered.

Dear Mary,
Mildura Theatre Company pays tribute to a unique lady.
Her love, dedication and passion for this corner of the world is evident in the many projects she was involved in. One of her many interests was theatre of which Mary was great supporter. We will miss seeing her smiling face in the audience.
Not gone just chronicling events on a new stage.
