Dear Brian,
I consider myself fortunate to have worked with Julie here in Santa Rosa, CA. She was kind, so skilled and such an advocate of literacy for young children. She supported through my second year of Reading Recovery my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

Dear Brian,
You and Julie arrived in Los Angeles County just as we began a great adventure in Reading Recovery with four brand new teacher leaders. She provided levity, guidance, and invaluable experience.
She adored you, Brian. I remember her calling you in Australia when she had a flat tire late at night. Such companions you were!
Heartfelt condolences.

Julie was a beautiful human being and a gifted leader in Education.
She made an immeasurable impact on the teaching of Early Literacy, locally, but also nationally and internationally.
Decades of influence, of enlightenment, for thousands of teachers, resulting in improved learning outcomes for countless children.
She was also involved in Parent Education, presenting to hundreds of Parent Forums on their role and importance in their children’s literacy development.
Julie was a teacher, a ferocious learner, a consultant, an author, a researcher and an academic. But mostly, she was a passionate believer in the potential for all young children to learn.
She generously offered guidance, support and mentoring for our
staff at Mildura West Primary School. We are so grateful to have worked with Julie for several years. It was a privilege.
We learnt a great deal and most importantly, hundreds of children learnt to read, because of Julie.
Her diverse experiences, deep knowledge, professionalism and determination, meant she was always at the cutting edge of Literacy Research.
Julie made sure every educator and every child she taught, feel special. Her positivity, humility and optimism were infectious. Even when Julie challenged teachers, she did so in such a positive manner, always smiling.
Julie’s legacy will live on at Mildura West Primary School.
She was an inspiration.
You will be sadly missed Julie, but never forgotten.
Rest in peace
Anne Robinson (Principal) and Staff of Mildura West Primary School.
